Truth in Taxation Hearing on Levy Ordinance

 

September, 13, 2005

 

 

 

The hearing was called to order by President Elsie Munson at 6:30 pm.

Trustees present:  Elsie Munson, Kathy Hughes, Kathy Kucik, Mary Jo Farrell.

Absent:  Evelyn Brefeld, Edna Robel, Doug Liston.

 

No members of the public were present.

 

Kathy Kucik made a motion to adjourn the meeting.  Seconded by Mary Jo Farrell. The meeting was adjourned at 6:30

Board Meeting Minutes---Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005

 

 

 

The meeting was called to order by President Elsie Munson at 7:03 pm.  Trustees present:  Evelyn Brefeld, Mary Jo Farrell, Kathy Hughes, Kathy Kucik, Elsie Munson, and Director Maria Zawacki.  Absent: Doug Liston, Edna Robel.

 

Maria introduced Denise Jordan, representing the Village Gardeners Club.  The club holds their monthly meetings at the library and are interested in beautifying the library grounds.  Discussion involved many ideas---pros and cons.  For now, the board would be grateful for any enhancement of existing flowering areas. Larger projects would be discussed at a later time.  Kudos to the club for offering to help us out!

 

A motion was made by Mary Jo Farrell, seconded by Kathy Kucik to accept the minutes of the board meeting and the Public Hearing On Tentative Budget & Appropriation Ordinance for FY2006.  Both meetings were held on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005.  Motion carried.

 

A motion was made by Mary Jo Farrell and seconded by Evelyn Brefeld to pay the bills in the amount of $37,534.56 (general fund) and $3598.00 (building fund).  Motion carried. Ayes:  Evelyn Brefeld, Mary Jo Farrell, Kathy Hughes, Kathy Kucik, Elsie Munson.  Nayes:  none.  Absent:  Doug Liston, Edna Robel.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  so far, so good

Correspondence:

  • Article on Homeschool Resource Center in August 2005 issue of School Library Journal.
  • Upcoming continuing ed. At PALS and NSLS
  • Memo from lawyer regarding interest earned on special funds, Employee Blood Donation Leave Act, and  bid limit increase
  • PALS  FY05 year end report
  • Note from high school learning center director---a parent had raved about the public library staff being  extremely helpful, finding everything she needs or asks for.  Great staff!!

New Business:

  • A motion was made by Evelyn Brefeld, seconded by Mary Jo Farrell to approve Ordinance No.2005-09-1 (Ordinance Levying Taxes for Library Purposes for the Fiscal Year 2005-2006).  Motion carried.  Ayes:  Evelyn Brefeld, Mary Jo Farrell, Kathy Hughes, Kathy Kucik, Elsie Munson.  Nayes:  none.  Absent:  Doug Liston, Edna Robel.
  • A motion was made by Kathy Kucik and seconded by Kathy Hughes to approve FY2006 Per Capita Grant application.  Motion carried.
  • Review annual report statistics
