Johnsburg Public Library

 June 19, 2017

                            

Call to Order

Meeting was called to order by President M. Diedrich at 7:06 P.M.  Trustees present:  M. Diedrich, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer. Interested trustee candidate Laurie Dohrn was present. Director M. Zawacki was present.

Trustee absent:  J. Stockwell

 

New Business

Oath of Office was administered to newly appointed trustee Laurie Dohrn.

 

Approval of Minutes

Motion was made by P. Shearer and seconded by B. Harmel to approve the minutes of the May 16, 2017 Board Meeting.

Ayes: L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Abstain: M. Diedrich

Motion passed.

 

Approval of Bills

Motion was made by K. Gustafson and seconded by L. Dohrn to approve the payment of the June 2017 bills in the amount of $45,824.64.

Ayes:  M. Diedrich, L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Motion passed.

 

Treasurer’s Financial Report

Trustees reviewed the FY Year 2016-2017 May 31, 2017 financial report.

 

Committee Reports

None

 

 

Correspondence

Trustees reviewed the $100.00 donation and letter from the Lakes Region Conference, a group which meets at the library 4 times a year.

 

Trustees reviewed the news article reporting what happens if elected officials do not fill out and submit their yearly Statement of Economic Interest forms.

 

Trustees reviewed Johnsburg Library being chosen as one of the recipients of new books from the 2017 Teens’ Top Ten Book Giveaway. Young Adult Librarian H. Stewart applied to YALSA for this funded opportunity provided by the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

 

Trustees reviewed April, May and June 2017’s monthly IT reports.

Motion was made by B. Harmel and seconded by P. Shearer to approve Ordinance No. 2017-6-1 (Ordinance Adopting Prevailing Wage Rates).

Ayes:  M. Diedrich, L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Motion passed

 

Motion was made by S. Reitz and seconded by L. Dohrn to approve Ordinance No 2017-6-2 (Ordinance Authorizing Public Library Non-Resident Cards for FY2018).

Ayes:  M. Diedrich, L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Motion passed.

 

Motion was made by S. Reitz and seconded by P. Shearer to approve Tentative Working Budget FY2018.

Ayes:  M. Diedrich, L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Motion passed.

 

Motion was made by B. Harmel and seconded by L. Dohrn to approve Schedule of Meeting Dates for FY2018.

Ayes:  M. Diedrich, L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Motion passed.

 

Motion was made by L. Dohrn and seconded by P. Shearer to approve the revised Disaster Plan.

Ayes:  M. Diedrich, L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Motion passed.

 

Motion was made by S. Reitz and seconded by L. Dohrn to approve the quote from Associated Electrical of Woodstock of $5,095 (or higher if that quote is not prevailing wage and their electrical contractor prevailing wage does not exceed $7,249) to install the new Johnsburg Road entrance light in front of the library entrance drive.

Ayes:  M. Diedrich, L. Dohrn, K. Gustafson, B. Harmel, S. Reitz and P. Shearer.

Motion passed.

 

Director’s Report

1.  

Donations:

The library received a donation of $75 from 3 library patrons to purchase genealogy books in memory of Library Director’s M. Zawacki’s father who loved genealogy.  The library also received a gift subscription of The Christian Science Monitor from Dennis Marunde.

     2. Director’s University:

Beth Ryan reports that going to the Director’s University in Springfield is very worthwhile and she is learning a lot.

DIRECTOR’S REPORT

June 2017

 

1.)   

Donations:

We received a donation of $75 from 3 library patrons to purchase genealogy books in my dad’s memory.  (Genealogy was his passion.)  We also received a gift subscription of The Christian Science Monitor from Dennis Marunde.

 

2.)   

Director’s University:

I’ve been corresponding with Beth while she’s in attendance at the Director’s University in Springfield.  She said it has been awesome and that she’s learning a lot.
