DIRECTOR’S REPORT

July 2016

  1. PrairieCat Conversion Timeline:

I was hoping to make the transfer to our new circulation system in December, when things are generally the slowest and quietest.  Unfortunately that does not work out for RAILS.  They have other libraries with a grant deadline scheduled to make their transfer in December.  Since I am planning another 2-week Arizona vacation in January and one week in March, I’m aiming for a mid-April target date.  That way we will be using the new system for a couple of months prior to the new director starting and can adjust any staffing assignments based on workflow with the new system.  The RAILS grant to help pay expenses for the conversion is due July 15.  I have all the narrative and timeline details done.  I’m just waiting for the computer quote before finalizing and submitting.  I am requesting 6 new computers to be paid for by the grant: 4 new staff stations out front and 2 new stations for interlibrary loan (Melanie) and cataloging (Julie K.).  I can easily justify the need for new equipment for those workstations.

  1. Checks received:

We received our FY2016 Per Capita Grant check of $9,574.73 from the State of Illinois.  To say that I was surprised to see that would be an understatement.  We also received our impact fee check from the village of Johnsburg for $1,426.38.  There are no details other than it’s for the period of July 2015-June 2016.
