DIRECTOR’S REPORT

April 2015

  1. Staff Training for Tornado Warnings:

Kudos to staff members Melanie U., Cindy B., and Julie S. who did exactly what they were supposed to do during the tornado warnings on the evening of April 9.  They herded patrons into the basement immediately and remained there during the two hours of the warnings – and had some interesting stories to tell.  They did suggest that we have some kind of “tornado survival kit” in the basement with water, additional flashlights, blankets, etc. They also discovered that our weather radio did not go off, so it’s a good thing their cell phone alarms went off.  We’ll look into the survival kit and a new weather radio.

  1. Another donation:

We received a very nice donation of 6 children’s books from young Penelope Colby.  See attached for the library’s Facebook post on this wonderful donation.

  1. Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program:

Congratulations to Alyssa Santiago, who was nominated by staff member Heather S. for the 2015 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program.  Alyssa is an active member in Heather’s teen group and provides a lot of volunteer assistance at the library.
