To access the Ancestry.com site, simply click on the "Ancestry Research Database" icon on any of our in-library computers. The subscription to Ancestry.com cannot be accessed outside of the library.
Ancestry.com is a geneaology website dedicated to family history. Their 24,000 historical databases contain over 5 billion online records with more being added regularly.
With the Johnsburg Public Library's subscription to the site, you can access:
U.S. Census Collections: Federal census records dating from 1790-1930, including name indexes and images.
Birth, Marriage & Death Records: The Social Security Death Index (SSDI), obituary collection and many other vital records.
U.S. Military Records: Rich military records including Civil War Service records, original images of WWI draft cards and much more.
U.S. Immigration Collection: Ship passenger lists, naturalization records, and ship photos.
OneWorldTree: A worldwide collection of millions of names in family trees submitted by members.
Historical Reference: Students will find stories, memories and histories on a wealth of U.S. and international topics, perfect for school papers and projects.
